Dear New Hampshire Highways Readers:
Serving New Hampshire Good Roads has truly been an honor. As I reflect on the past decade, I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve accomplished together. But more than the work itself, what stands out to me most are the relationships I’ve built along the way. Whether it was exchanging ideas with a fellow member, navigating challenges side by side, or simply sharing a laugh —these are the moments that remind me just how special this community is.
Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how New Hampshire Good Roads has strengthened our industry and supported its members in ways that go far beyond what’s written in our mission statement. The spirit of collaboration here is real, and it’s something I’ll always value and carry with me.
I’d like to thank Larry Major for his unwavering dedication to the Workforce Development initiative. While the construction workforce crisis remains a challenge, the Workforce Development Committee has made incredible strides. From attending numerous career fairs and connecting with hundreds of young people, to hosting project tours for UNH Tech Camp and participating in events like NH Construction Career Days and Bring Back the Trades — their impact is undeniable.
Looking ahead, I’m excited for the continued growth of this organization. I’m confident that the connections we’ve built, the support we offer each other, and the passion we share for this industry will only make us stronger. In closing I would like to share a few quick reminders:
• The Summer Social and Equipment Showcase Open returns to Beaver Meadow and Canterbury Woods on July 24 and 25. I encourage you to invite some of your coworkers and reach out to others in the industry who have never attended before.
• And you won’t want to miss the Fall Social on November 8. We’re heading back to the 1980s for a “totally rad” night in Portsmouth. So, grab some neon and start planning your most outrageous '80s outfit — it’s going to be a blast!
These events are excellent opportunities to network and have some fun. We hope you will all be able to join us.
I wish you all a safe and successful year ahead.
Sincerely,
Will Hess
President
