New Hampshire Highways Readers:
The Good Roads team — especially Brenda and the Events Committee — is in full preparation mode for this year’s Equipment Showcase Open, happening Friday, July 31. The tournament begins bright and early at both Canterbury Woods Country Club
and Pembroke Pines Country Club, and we invite everyone to join us afterward at Pembroke Pines for the awards ceremony and barbeque.
Festivities kick off the night before with our Summer Social on Thursday, July 30. Members and guests can enjoy the equipment showcase, reconnect with colleagues, meet new people, and build the kinds of relationships that make Good Roads such a strong community.
As the season gets busy, we hope you’ll make plans to join us. Registration for golf, exhibit space, and sponsorships is available online — visit www.nhgoodroads.org for details.
Each year, the New Hampshire Good Roads Scholarship Committee recognizes
students dedicated to strengthening New Hampshire’s communities through
their chosen fields of study. For the 2026–27 academic year, the committee is
proud to award $6,000 in scholarships to three exceptional recipients (see page
23). Their commitment and talent reflect the spirit of the Roger F. Provost and
New Hampshire Good Roads Construction Scholarships. Many thanks to our
members and friends whose generosity supports this program year after year.
Looking ahead, be sure to mark your calendar for the Fall Social on November
14 at Church Landing in Meredith. This year’s theme — Kentucky Derby
Casino Night — brings together Southern charm and Vegas-style excitement.
Whether you’re placing your bets, showing off your best Derby hat, or simply
enjoying the atmosphere, the Fall Social promises high spirits, great company,
and plenty of fun.
Finally, whether we’re enjoying friendly competition — like our recent
Paintball Battle — or collaborating on important initiatives through
committees such as the Workforce Development Committee, Good Roads
continues to offer a one of a kind forum for connection and progress.
I encourage members to think about the connections and benefits they’ve
found through Good Roads and to introduce those opportunities to someone
new. Our events thrive on personal interaction, and expanding our community
strengthens everything we do.
In that spirit, the Board of Directors has opened several committees to broader membership participation. Opportunities are available on the Workforce Development, Long Range Planning, Scholarships, New Hampshire Highways magazine, and Legislative committees. Some meet only once a year; others gather a few times annually. If you’re interested in
getting involved, please contact the NHGRA office at info@nhgoodroads.org.
Sincerely,
Brett Merrill
President
