President's Message - Winter 2024

Updated: May 17

Dear New Hampshire Highways Readers:

It’s the time of year when many of us look back — reflecting on where we've been and what we've accomplished — as well as look ahead. We set new goals and develop new plans for achieving them.

In my first President's letter in the spring, I spoke of our need to focus the Association's energy and resources on furthering the work of the Workforce Development Committee. I'm pleased to report that this group of committed individuals has done extraordinary work throughout the past year, successfully organizing, or participating in several workforce development events. This activity brought our industry — and Good Roads — into contact with hundreds of job seekers, students, educators, and human resource professionals. It enabled us to educate them about the construction industry's numerous and diverse career opportunities and make invaluable connections to facilitate our work in the future. I look forward to seeing that initiative continue to grow and develop in the months ahead.

I also emphasized in my first President's letter the importance of coming together as an industry in other ways — not only to solve problems but also to socialize and network together and build personal as well as business relationships. I’m pleased to report that we had record-setting attendance at all of our events in 2023!

In the year ahead, I encourage all our members to think about what they value most about Good Roads and consider bringing a colleague or business associate — someone unfamiliar with our organization — to one of our events. Maybe you can encourage them to join.

Looking ahead, you won't want to miss our new Summer Social on July 25 and the Equipment Showcase Open on July 26. The golf tournament remains an extremely popular and important event for us, and we're constantly working to make it better, more inclusive, and more fun for everyone. In that spirit, I know we've recently decided that our new Summer Social event will include an epic Corn Hole Tournament! You can look for more information and registration forms in May.

Other 2024 dates to mark on your calendar include our Annual Meeting on April 4, with registration forms available in February, Paintball Battle 2024 on May 11 and the Fall Social, which returns to Church Landing in Meredith on November 2.

In closing, I’d like to thank all our members for their support and participation over the past year. Your continued financial support, as well as your active participation, is what makes it all happen.

On behalf of everyone at Good Roads, I wish you all a safe and prosperous New Year!

Sincerely,

Jason Riley

President
